Traditions
Traditions within the Ibo culture are passed down generation to generation.
House rules and customs: When people of the Ibo tribe host guests into their house it is tradition to break a kola nut, this is to honor the gods and ancestors. For this tradition, the host passes the kola to his guest, who gives it back to the host and insists that the hosts breaks the kola nut. This exchange continues until the host accepts the honor of breaking the kola nut and serves it to the guest(s).
Farming tradition: As a farming tradition the people sacrifice animals to the goddess Ani. They believe this will improve their chance to have a good harvest.
